The title for this piece is the punchline to an improvised joke told by my 6 year-old godson, Elijah Graham Shiel, in an effort to make his family laugh on camera. We see their faces slide from a non-laughing to a laughing state. As a psychologist, I'm constantly watching faces for signs of raw and hidden emotion. I'm fascinated by our ability to express complex feelings through subtle changes in facial expression. Many thanks to Elijah and his family for allowing their likenesses to be projected on big screens all over town.
